ABOUT US

The New Forest Art Society was started in 1964 and prides itself on being friendly and inclusive. It depends upon the enthusiasm, generosity and hard work of its members.

Many members are practicing artists, working in a wide variety of styles and mediums and enjoy opportunities to develop their own practice with like minded people. Members are able to exhibit and sell their art works at the annual summer art exhibition and an autumn art sale. Some members’ interests are more confined to the appreciation of art and are equally valued members of the Society. Our members come from all parts of the New Forest and beyond.

The Society meets on the third Wednesday evening – 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm – of most months for a wide programme of artist demonstrations, art related talks or a critique of members' own paintings. These meetings take place at the Lyndhurst Community Centre, where there is ample free parking in the evenings. Non-members are very welcome to attend these meetings (guest fee £5).

In addition, a few, very reasonably priced workshops are offered over the year – facilitated on Saturdays and again are open to non-members. Trips to galleries and art events are arranged where possible. We are a non-profit Society that depends on a small annual subscription - £40 per annum with a reduction after the summer exhibition. Young people, aged 18-25 years, can join with a 25% reduction in subscription. We are actively open to new members joining - speak to a committee member when you visit, complete the membership form or contact the Membership Secretary, details below.
